Rice Research Priorities and Strategies for Second Green Revolution
The Association of Rice Research Workers (ARRW) in collaboration with Central Rice Research Institute (CRRI) and Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR) organized a National Symposium on “Research Priorities and Strategies in Rice Production System for Second Green Revolution” at CRRI, Cuttack during 20-22nd November 2007.

This special platform was intended to address on need assessment and prioritization of agricultural research, such as (a) conventional and modern innovative approaches including physiologically efficient system, (b) effective resource management, innovative system approach for profitability, mechanization and post harvest technology, organic farming, (c) review the strategies during 1st Green Revolution, identify strength and weaknesses of the system for further improvisation, (d) location specific strategies for increasing productivity of rice and rice-based crops in irrigated and rainfed areas and (e) identify water saving technologies for rice production.

The thematic proceedings have been documented in a book form where many eminent scientists have contributed thought provoking articles examining the research portfolios and identifying the gaps to embody future research programmes. They are broad based, and multi-disciplinary in nature.
